Where the hell's the Grand Wazoo?
For all my readers (both of you!), I'd like to apologize for not posting
for a bit.Problem is, I like have this....life. (A Joke!).
But really, the little missus and I took a road trip "Out West".It's
what we call a vacation, and we really didn't want to advertise the fact that
we'd be away from the little bit of chaos that we call home, (our hometown isn't Disneyland, we have lots of "trouble" around here and breaking and entering is like, the local pastime, neck in neck with drive-by shootings BTW).
So all local paranoia aside, I really have been wanting to post lately, but we've been in the "high desert" of California for the last several days, and the idea of screwing up a PERFECT little vacation never crossed my mind.Special thanks to Fritz- "Mayor of Negril" and T. Wilkes for making it an unforgettable experience.
Well, there's an active political season out there, I promise to get right back to it.

Proof that GW once sat inside an airplane...
Memos Show Bush Suspended From Flying
If this is news to you, or you never imagined that those evil democrat "rumor merchants" were right, maybe you could save yourself some heartache and go crawl back up under Paris Hiltons scrawny ass. `Cause that's where you'd have to live not to have already heard this. I can't imagine a legitimate news service treating this like it's "NEWS". It's soooo funny that Bush can deny ANYTHING right up until the documents proving that he's a liar get released, and then what will the media do? They'll act like by releasing these documents, that he must be telling "the truth".
Howsabout painting him as a pansy-ass daddy's boy, who got special treatment to begin with, and then couldn't even serve a legitimate hitch in the "champagne division". Of course if you look at history you'll see why; there's a set of rules of EVERY OTHER MAN IN AMERICA, then there's the rules for G.W. Bush. He gets to decide when he serves, not the government. I bet there's a bunch of guys today wishing they could "decide" to come home from Iraq!

Can this anything except a "token prosecution?"
So this Chinese tourist is getting legal action that the rest of us can't get? I mean, if it were me, a long haired white guy from Amerika, they'd tell me to "eat shit" and make me go straight to jail, and not pass go.
See, I have his brother who works 7 days a week, trying to help not only himself, but his family's business as well. He served in the Marines during the 70's. He still keeps top secret info in that head of his. He'll take those secrets to his grave, not out of fear of his government, but he made a promise once to keep those secrets, so he will, forever.
This brother wants more than anything to travel and go back to Hawaii, but refuses to. He feels, as do many of us, that it is so, UNFAIR and UNAMERICAN to make someone who is "semper fi" submit to a possible body cavity search and maybe worse, just to make a pleasure trip.
FUCK- these men and women fought, died, kept secrets, and still pay taxes... and now due to the incompetence of one little draft dodger president, none of them can travel without suspicion. NONE OF US CAN TRAVEL WITHOUT SUSPICION.
So all the while Bush gets to "blame the system" (what the fuck is "Systemic Failure"-it's a little man getting to blame a system HE DOESN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND!)- guys like my brother who made the system work for all his life, gets shit on.
The only part of the system we have control over is the ourselves, the only thing we can do is vote.

Never fails, when the president needs a support, you can always count on CNN's Jack Cafferty. The guys act consists of getting "stomping mad" over any detail that the Bush regime wants him to. Mr Cafferty was SO MAD that congress wouldn't stop everything and make some shitload of new laws, (probably in the dead of night like the patriot act). It's a shame that some people might really be buying this guys act...Since they never read any of my letters on air- here it is, and I hope everyone will send them something too.
-------------------
Hey Jack!
Why don't you give some of that anger to the president, who was on vacation almost as much as he worked, in the months before 9/11.
I for one don't want another bunch of "feel good" policy changes, acted upon quickly, and forced down our throats, that my kids are going to have to pay for, just so fear mongers like you will feel a little better. I thought that strip searching all citizens at airports was supposed to make us safer, after all. I hope congress will enjoy their vacation, I'm sure GW did.

Did anyone else see 9/11 panel member Bob Kerrey tell a protester to "fuck off"? I only chance to see it ONCE on MSNBC today. I suppose the real news is, "A DEMOCRAT HAS A SPINE". The guy really said something like "fuck off" since it had to be bleeped. Maybe some Democrats are reading The Grand Wazoo? I bet someone in the "Looserman" camp of Democrats called them an asked them not to replay it, it might cause someone not to get along.
THEN, I bet Mr. ROVE called the network and demanded that "Bob Kerrey" showing a spine was too close to "John Kerry" showing a spine, and we wouldn't want to confuse the American public, would we? Needless to say, I have not seen that clip since.
I'm also looking for the name and video of the police officer who said, something like "I thought this was Amerika, I thought it was all a free speech zone", in response to an area created for Republican protesters at the upcoming Democratic convention, during a CNN interview today. Don't you read the papers man? People are getting arrested and worse just for wearing the wrong t-shirt to school, or daring to speak against the president. Don't you know that innocent people get searched everyday, "guility untill proven innocent" of terrorism? What Amerika are you living in cop? The only place you can speak out is in you own "blog", and that's only untill Bush has us all hauled off to Gitmo. Go tell the protesters at all the WTO meetings, "Amerika's a Free Speech Zone"- Trouble is, only republican ASSHOLES like this guy are the only folks who ever get the microphone.
Remember, this is the presidents 9/11 commission...
I'm so old, I remember when the "boss" had to take the heat if bad shit happened.
I'm also so old, I remember when we had the finest system of government ever created, and nobody could dare accuse the system of being wrong or weak or second class.
Since all the reccomendations I've heard from the 9/11 report have to do with, "create a bigger system and give up more civil rights" which only parrots the presidents view, I can only expect more of the same "party line" from the rest of the report.
My big suggestions? Glad you asked...
1) Stop trying to run the fucking world, and fight your own fights. If we hadn't been using Bin Laden to try to fight other Arabs, he might have never gotten the training to attack America. If you don't train them , fund them and piss them off, maybe they won't attack.
2) Hold the boss accountable. No amount of extra counter-terrorism shit will help if the guy at the control is asleep, or on vacation. We have a central office of intelligence. It'c call the Central Intelligence Agency. So this panel wants another central agencey? After this one let us down, what would another one do? Oh and as far a accountability, if we do create a "terror czar" would he be accountable, or would the buck just keep getting passed from agency to agency, with the president NEVER TAKING BLAME (like now...). Until the president takes responsibility, there can be no closure.
3) Stop shitting on the world. We train guys like Bin Laden, turn him loose on the world and then just wring our hands saying "oh, my, oh, my...he's such a villain", and we created him. We do things that hurt people, and when they hurt us back, we seem so clueless. That' what happens when we shit on the world.
4) Don'tbe a pussy. We're all gonna die. Americans want to live in a fantasy land where everyone is "safe", I prefer the real world. I think it's this detachment that makes America a dangerous place. We don't know what the rest of the world thinks, we generally don't care, and yet are so shattered when someone disturbs our little fantasy land, and we have to deal with reality.
5) Stop blaming the system.
Freedom is the only safety.

I wouldn't kid ya- the news media, like my old nemesis MSNBC, has spent the day diffusing the 9/11 report for president Bush. How you ask? Well, anchors keep reminding viewers that the report puts equal BLAME on CLINTON for not doing more during his term.
Am I the only asshole who sees the elephant in the room? It's the fact that MSNBC and FOX NEWS made an industry off of Blaming Clinton in the 90's. Chris "the screamer", Bill "O'Nazi", Ann "the pathetic", and a host of other experts got rich off of chasing Bill Clintons indiscretions. This wouldn't be so relevant except I remember clear as day Clinton warning us all about some guy named "Bin Laden", and EVEN I THOUGHT HE WAS WAGGING THE DOG, trying to divert attention away from his investigations.
Trouble is, Clinton was right. He was the first to warn us. And you MSNBC FUCKERS DARE TO GIVE HIM EQUAL BLAME? He warns us, warns Bush, Bush steals the election and goes on vacation, and CLINTON MUST SHARE THE BLAME??
Bull-Fucking-Shit.
Clintons hands were tied from the moments Ken Starr got a budget. So, so many Americans bought the smear campaign and marginalized a great leader. A leader the Arabs liked a little. A leader that wanted change and peace. Now that the war merchants have their way, don't look for peace to EVER BE POSSIBLE.
WE LAUGHED ABOUT CLINTON.
WE LAUGHED ABOUT MONICA.
WE LAUGHED ABOUT THE 2000 ELECTION.
WE LAUGHED ABOUT AL GORE.
We had a chance for peace under Clinton, but attacked him from all sides. Now that our sons, daughters, moms and dads are dying, and we have only ourselves to blame.
NOBODY'S LAUGHING NOW.

Oh wait..you mean you can only make those kinda wild accusations about Democrats? And it helps if you work for Fox News? Like when they called us "Saddam Lovers" for protesting the war? Oh I see...well, not really. I mean if you just wanted to hear her hits, why the fuck didn't you just fire up the juke box?

"The middle class and working poor are told that what's happening to them is the consequence of Adam Smith's 'Invisible Hand.' This is a lie. What's happening to them is the direct consequence of corporate activism, intellectual propaganda, the rise of a religious orthodoxy that in its hunger for government subsidies has made an idol of power, and a string of political decisions favoring the powerful and the privileged who bought the political system right out from under us."
-- Bill Moyers, Keynote speech, June 3, 2004
a/k/a half the problem's the "liberals"...
My place as The Grand Wazoo makes me almost as hated in liberal circles as in conservative circles. Both sides are almost equally to blame in most issues, one providing a "catalyst" to the other sides "reaction". Case in point, the online music issue.
The Grand Wazoo has been a musician for 21 years. I play all the instruments in a rock band. I'm not a hero nor a villian. I've been on both sides of the performance, as musician and as engineer and sound reinforcement. I have a resume that most anyone would envy. I've been a part of online music trading from day one. The current albums I have for sale, were first available as FREE downloads, and I am proud of that. Free downloads made my music worth more.
BUT- each artist must make his own rules for his own music. That's where it gets tricky.
Lately, I've became aware of an attitude called the "jam band mentality".Wow. It get's real strange real fast. These people call themselves "liberals"....hmmm. These "jam band hippies" who seem to specialize in looking down their noses at anyone who doesn't "do business like Phish." You're supposed to "share the love" and give it away for free; if you charge a dollar to recoup your expenses, you're a profiteer. Anyone trying to make a buck is a "monster trying to make money".
So- I guess what offends me is the fact that if a band like Phish want to let you record a show, that's great. Phish alone knows the value of Phishmusic. But then the fans of this group, and others, decree that ANYONE ELSE selling a recording for any price is a monster "stealing from the community" or some other eliteist hippie/suburbanite propaganda, I draw the line.
Listen, first of all, guys like me didn't help pave the way in free music on the internet because we belived in Phish. What we KNEW was the value of our unknown music would go UP when exposed to NEW POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. The only way that could happen would be places like the INTERNET.
Now jump ahead a few years. "OnlineMusic Trading" has been seized by these Phish headed people who declare that anyone charging for anything is "uncool". Listen- your'e ignorant! What guys like me resent is this- I gave it away. Now I'm selling hundreds of dollars a month in cd sales BECAUSE I GAVE IT AWAY. But now it's for sale in every Virgin Megastore in the world. If you must share it, that's cool too. But I really resent the attitude that says "unless you do it like Phish you're a profiteer!"...Let's have a closer look at Phish, maybe, and we'll see where the contradiction comes from.
1) Phish is consistent top draw, money maker when it comes to concert ticket sales.
If you believed in "share the love" shouldn't Phish play for free?
2) I've never seem Phish play live. They only play big shitty fields, where you gotta stand in the mud and act like you LOVE it. Oh yeah, they tend to play CORPORATE venues owned by people like CLEAR CHANNEL. I refuse to put money in those pockets. Of course $185 per mud field ticket seemslike a rip off too. I'd rather support independent venues like The Key PalaceTheatre, and the grammy award winning acts that play there.
3) Phish lets you record the show. BUT you gotta pay $8.00 per Coke. That woulda been fine when the point of going to concerts was to "eat acid"or "score acid" or "I'll work the parking lot and not pay the rape ya ticket price". But since I go to shows now for the music, I find it hard to sit thru the same noodling guitar solo that some band has played for years. Seriously, what's more exciting? Joe Perry's muscular "same solo on every song for years" on every Aerosmith record, or Phish playing the same "Weedelly, Weedelly,Wee" for hours and fans being too wasted to know the difference between that, and being a great musician? What's worse? Neither. It's the same corporate rock, sold to you two different ways. One way says, "I'm a star, buy my shit". The other says "I let you record it for free, WORSHIP ME!-but pay triple for everything else you buy". Both empty rock star sales pitches, oh, and it helps to be wasted to enjoy either one...
So take it easy on each other. I can' help but wonder tho, if every Phishfan downloads shows for free, do they pay for their own internet connection? or do they "steal it from someone else?". My point is, even in the world of "free downloads", somone is paying, and someone else is making a profit, even if you don't see it. If you build you world on getting something for nothing, nothings exactly what you'll get.

So,if we don't like the decision, we'll just take away the power to make those decisions. Nice. It's just too easy to keep making up your own rules, why play by them at all? Society tends to treat homosexuals as "freaks" or "second-class" anyway, it's just the way the majority of the "straight" world tends to treat them. So this classy Hoosier just wants to legislate the idea. Who's next? Catholics? Jews? Bloggers? Lets get this "second class citizen" list ready...
I keep telling people, it's TOO LATE, we've already given up power to this little man. With a "war on" he really can do whatever he wants. Listen, you don't have to convince me that Canada would be second class place to live. At least they don't brag about "Freedom" there. They say, "Yeah, we're Socialists, eh. At least you don't have to be two-faced about it." At this point, I figure we've lost almost all of the progress made in the 20th century, progress for the citizens that is. If I remember my history right, we had the same rights and liberties in the 1800's, but it was "might makes right" with the giant companies doing whatever they wanted, and most people couldn't read, let alone hire a lawyer- the big companies got away with murder.
Just a quick thing, no kidding... I caught the dread MSNBC showing Kerry' speech at the NAACP convention. Not bad. He's no slick Willie, but he can put two words together in a sentence (which seems to elude some politicians). And you got to see more than 30-45 seconds, that's the really amazing part!
Wednesday, July 14, 2004
I just caught MSNBC's latest shocker...Are you ready for this?
something like, "Blair knew a month before invasion that Saddam had no WMDs." (yeah, and they've been giving Mike Ditka a free campaign ad with repeated airing of "Mike Ditka for Senate?" Oh, the power of the question mark...)
Like its "NEW NEWS" or something. Bullshit! Every free country had doubts about the honesty of the 45 minutes claim-("45 or it's free Guarantee"). And there were many, many folks who have distanced themselves from this whole thing (like every civilized country in the free world).
SO NOW-- after all this time, it's NEWS on MSNBC that Mr. Blair knew there were no weapons. NO SHIT!! I remember A HUGE amount of Americans who knew better. All you had to do is listen to the news and you'd know that we've NEVER LEFT IRAQ! We've probably kept a real close eye on them. Obviously we knew the truth, and it was suppressed.
You can argue reasons, rationale, and ideology- but there can be no doubt that the dubious info we went to war on was disputed from the beginning. All my "O'Reilly Republican" pals thought, and swore up and down that this war was for oil anyway. We need it. They have it. And they were so glad that we had a "man with enough balls" to go in there and take it. They thought we'd all be getting cheaper and cheaper gas by now. Just to hear the silence now is almost worth it. Almost.
So with all the blood on our countrys hands, it's a fine time to remember- not to lay blame or anything, because we'll all suffer as a country for our leaders mistakes, but we fucking told you so.
Awhile back, "Blame Clinton" was a little funnier, a little cheekier, than it might be now. My original thought was that under Bush and Rove's Amerika, "Blame Clinton" was the one shirt that wouldn't get me arrested. Of course it didn't stop the evil Google from banning my ad for it. Damn, no sense of humor huh? But I do hear that any leftwing site gets screwed in those ads anyway, so it's probably for the best. Maybe they didn't get the joke...Or maybe they did(evil grin).
So for anyone interested, go here to order a shirt. I'll have different styles of shirts soon, stay tuned!
Send me your own rant, media criticism or opinions here- maybe I'll publish it, or if you really get my dander up, maybe you'll get a free shirt!
Browse the site and enjoy!!
The so-called "liberal bias", after all this time, has finally given us Air America Radio. Since those liberal slackers have gotten their act together and created a great radio network, I figured it my duty to advertise. And since they won't sell ads one and two at a time, I was happy that Bartcop decided to co-op the spots.
You know, radio is all about the ads. I know it makes their world go `round. Music or talk is just what fills the space between commercials, and I'm proud to have a few seconds of airtime.
"What was the purpose of the whole thing? Hundreds and hundreds of young people killed. And what about the people coming back with no arms and no legs? Not to mention the other side. All those Iraqi kids who've been blown to pieces. And it turns out that all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!,"
While I would normally view his dumb television show and wonder "What was the purpose of the whole thing?"- Since this guys seems paper thin anyway, I suspect not too many Republicans would seriously follow his lead...But it's nice that someone "rich" is saying it. Many folks think that since Bush and Co have "no ears to listen" to a middle-class or poor person, it'll take a person of wealth or Republican to say it. If you can sneak it in between seasons, that is...

"Here's the situation: Our servicewomen in Iraq continue to make reports of sexual assaults, and DOD puts out a report that talks about convening summits and developing policies," Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., said in a statement Friday. "They (victims) need confidentiality in reporting. They need DNA evidence kits available and trained personnel to administer them. They need to know that if they report an assault, they will not be put through the ringer by the military and possibly kicked out. And they need these things now."
Let's just throw out any progress we've made in this area. Let's just make all women who cry rape "a slut"! That'd be easier than giving them the "kobe" treatment. Back when there were only 200 or so dead soldiers, I had one "neocon bitch" actually tell me that "it's not that many people!". I wonder if she would feel that way about 200 rape victims. American rape victims. What are they bitching about? After all they're still alive...
It's true, this administration is trying to undo ANY progress in ANY area. They have their eyes on the oil, don't bother them, they're busy raping Iraq.
I keep wondering what all the fuss is about with the hostages in Iraq. I mean, I'm very sorry that when you send people into a place that GW says "we're welcome" to be, that undoubtedly you'll end up with some friendly "hostages". When it's a person from our armed forces, my heart breaks. When it's a "contractor" I feel a bit better, hey you were the one trying to cash in on this thing, it's your life, throw it away anyway you want (maybe you could have stayed home and fought this terrible administration?). I supposed we'll NEVER know the full story, and who or what is behind each situation.
So I noticed this article on the Philippines and their "hostage negotiations". You guys got it almost right. You need to do what Reagan did: talk tough, tough, tough...Then behind the scenes, you cut a backroom deal to release the hostages. I'm guessing thats what's throwing off the captors. You just don't ever say "yes". You say no, no no. We'll NEVER give you what you want, you thugs. Then- of course...You give them exactly what they want, when it can be of political benefit....Yeah...Just like in Iran....

Mrs. Wazoo and I went to a GREAT show Saturday in Newport KY (Cincy) featuring Texas stalwarts "The Old 97's", the opening act was Charlie Mars, who happened to be on tonights episode of "McEnroe" on CNBC. It's strange to tune into a show and know I was shaking hands with the guys on the screen just a few days ago. Charlie has a really really good album out, and was a great live act to `boot (Seemed like nice guys too!). This endorsement brought to you due to the fact that the new Charlie Mars album "Charlie Mars" is so impressive, I can't resist pitching it just a little. Maybe the guys in the band will see this, I was the long haired guy after the end of the show, dressed all in black, with the alt.rock babe on my arm- Send Backstage passes please!

Helen Thomas tells Indy journalists Bush administration and media ignore truth.
HA HA HA!! Save your breath lady, this is Indiana you're talking about.
Around here people really believe the propaganda, so you might as well be blowing "yankee doodle" through your cars tailpipe. The "drone people" around here are so desperate not to think, that they fill their minds with whatever their Republican masters tell them to think.
Trust me, around Indy, most people won't even talk about politics for fear of not being "Republican enough" or worse yet, you might actually sound like a <..the audience gets suddenly quite>...a.. Democrat! See below for my humble opinion about local media outlets...
Thursday, July 08, 2004
For a straight guy, I know about a zillion queers. I guess my opinion is biased, due to the fact that I have so many positive friendships with homosexuals. And those are only the gay people willing to be "out". No one ever knows for sure...
I think you can tell a lot about someone by their sexual preference. If you think ONE is "a lot", that is. If you know someones sexual orientation you know just that, who they want to "have sex with". That's all. Gay people come in all sizes, shapes, and outlooks, just like real people(a joke, I promise).
So it's with a sympathetic, but dubious eye that I view the whole "gay marriage" issue and resulting stakes game now being played out in Washington.
I'm so old that I remember when all men were created equal. Not- "all straight men are created better, you fags can just settle for ass sex." I mean, I suppose I understand conservatives being so fucking afraid of queers that whatever you want to do them is fine, so I guess their agenda is a little different that mine.
Here's my point. With all the attention given to it, it's easy to see the gay influence on Washington. Our capital would be an alright place to be gay, I'd bet. I mean, it's probably the only place in the world that any average citizen would have so many secrets in their life, that being gay could just be another. It seems to be a city where people talk all day, and never expose any personal information about themselves. It's a town of secrets.
So- a gay person could show up every day, do their job right, and if you work in certain buildings, people just aren't allowed to ask too many questions, "national security" and all that. So- secrets could be kept in the closet (I couldn't resist!)
So my crackpot theory is this:
An advisor to the conservatives suggests "gay marriage" to the party as a strategy. This advisor could know the desires of "Gay America" firsthand, so to speak. This advisor could think, in their heart of hearts, that all the attention will serve a double-duty.
One- eventually gays will win "equality"(which if you believe in America, they should already have).
Two- it will drive a perfect wedge between democrats, and let the conservatives mobilize their base. (duh!)
So while it would seem like a win-win situation to the advisor, it'll be catastrophic for the rest of us, gay and straight. It could help Bush win the election.
Yep, someone could be playing both side of the issue, just like Kissinger did years ago. And like years ago, while each side is prepping for "battle" and declaring their intents to destroy each other, quietly and behind the scenes, someone works to keep the "problem" going. After all, it's just expedient politics, and history proves the strategy works, time and time again. And for a country sending, oh, 7000 or so more troops to fight a war, "gay marriage" and "who's getting outed" sure seems like the wrong thing to be fighting about.
![]() | It's just that you people don't know your place... President Declines NAACP Invite to Speak Bush sure could speak before he became president, back when he spoke about big empty things like morality, God, and peace. What I figure is, our presidents ego just can't handle criticism from anyone, let alone "you people". |

While my hometown newspaper continues to publish ignorant letters to the editor denouncing F9/11, it's no surprise that our local television outlets give only faint coverage to the next presidents visit.
John Kerry announced today that it's going to be Edwards. At least our local TV stations didn't cover the event "facts optional" like the dreadful NYPost did. (Sad, very sad...)
BUT it wasn't the full blown "wetting our pants" coverage they gave GW Bush just a few months ago.
No- only ONE station even seemed to cover it, some, during the noon news.
When president Bush visited, there were screaming hot teens, breathless anchormen and women, and most importantly, EVERY THING ELSE STOPPED and we had to hear ALL ABOUT OUR HERO.
For John Kerry, closer to a real hero than Bush will ever be, we didn't even interrupt "The Young and the Restless" or "All My Children", and the one station who covered it only gave us little "snippets" between the rest of the propaganda.
It's no wonder the guy can't his "numbers up"- if local coverage in every other market is this thin and biased, IT"S NO WONDER! They covered a few moments live of the event, until he started to thank and introduce Jessie Jackson, then they cut to commentators and started to play the already edited clip, that they played for the rest of the day. I guess that's what he gets for working with guys like Jessie. Some say Kerry is boring, with coverage like this, WHO COULD TELL? The reporting is "boring"- at best.
Like I said sad.. But this is "hometown USA". You must seek out the truth. They only roll out the red carpet for the "right" candidate, with the correct views. It's shameful that our citizens can't seem to tell the difference between pandering, and reporting.

Politicians and other non-scientific types debate such theoretical problems like the concept of
"Global Warming" and doubt our civilizations ability to judge those things,
therefore creating a doubt as to the validity of those ideas, but also casting doubt on other
"already proven" scientific facts.
BUT- air pollution and it's existence cannot be debated. It exists.
Nearly 100 Million Breathing Particulates - EPA
Notice, that the GW squad wants to talk about the non-issue of some "pseudo-science theory", but
seems resolved to not try to improve the quality of the air we breathe. It's much easier to preach
the debunking of "Global Warming", since REAL air pollution 100%, for-sure exists-(and like I said,
he won't seem to do anything about it!)
So- what pisses me off, is all the effort our fellow citizens put into their "stop smoking" bullshit.
Yes- I agree the everyone should be able to express their ideas, except when it comes to infringing
upon other peoples freedoms.
I mean, you'll never convince me- with a million "smoking white lies" TV spots and the heaviest handed
propaganda, that a single smoker makes enough smoke to endanger someone else's life.
To me, that is the essence of the problem. Instead of going after the general health risk
for ALL OF US, we seem to want to go after the individual. Since smoking is so "icky"...
You can believe whatever "research" that the anti-smoking lobby throws at you. I think there
are a big bunch of well meaning people in the anti-smoking movement. But they won't seem to
take a "thanks, but I'll keep puffing" for an answer.
And the REAL PISSER for a non-smoker like me is, I just get sick of hearing it!!
I wish the fuck all of you on both sides would join forces and get the pollution out of our
air- so we really could have a choice.
My argument is this: stop all cigarette and tobacco smoke, go ahead and include the pot smokers,
freebasers and crack smoking. I mean just shoot anyone caught smoking ANYTHING.
That glorious task accomplished- we'd still all be breathing SHIT!
Take away all our freedoms, right or wrong, make all the choices for us, and we still
have so many fucking particles in the air where I live that it'll seriously hurt me
for as long as I live.
You can regulate the "personal smokestack" all you fucking want, the individual once again
gets screwed..... While the real problem burns on. If you want to help all of us, then
stop air pollution, until then, you're just blowing smoke up your own asses!

On the eve of his recent sojourn in Europe, President Bush had an unpleasant run-in with a species of creature he had not previously encountered often: a journalist.
This is the kind of reporting that crazy ranters like me are always calling for, and
since good ol RonnieBoy changed the rules of the press confrence, we never seem to have in Amerika.
I'm so old that I remember when reporters tried to ask questions that matter,
rather than todays standard of "help the politician look good". I mean, ANY unpleasant
questions that members of the press ask seem to always have a sweet little 20 second
sound-bite answer, that the politician has pre-prepared.
Maybe someday we can make it profitable for the media outlets to change the way they do business...
yeah, right.....

While every stinking "news" outlet plays the same 30 seconds of footage of Saddam today,
I wonder what laws are being passed? Or for God's sake what about Kobe?
Fuck... I haven't see good ol' Kobe make his walk from car to courthouse today, shit!
I know this is a big media move for Bush and Co.- and since it's all they have to crow about,
it's easy to see why they want to turn it into what we see for the next several month.
I'll go on record as sticking with my initial prediction awhile back that the media will have plenty
of scandal to cover (like this and the prisoner abuse scandal, and ALL THE OTHER SCANDALS!)
INSTEAD of covering our own election. No wonder John Kerry seems like a distant mirage, since he's
tough to get a scandal on, why would Fox News want to cover him at all?
Maybe scandal is the only way to get Americans attention. I sure think so.
Think of how UN-FAIR and UN-AMERICAN it would be if we liberals kept the focus on some
juicy, but totally un-related to the election issues like:
1.- Our first lady was driver in a accident that killed someone. Yep.
I know, we all make mistakes, but are this bunch of Texans in the White House just obsessed
with killing? What if Hillary had a similar skeleton in the closet? You mean she does, and
we appointed guys like Ken Starr to look into them? Why not Laura Bush too ??
2.- Our Vice-President still is on the Halliburton payroll. Small potatoes sure, but the
VP salary is REALLY SMALL POTATOES TOO! Which small vegetable is he most likely to owe his allegiance
to? Does anyone in America know this but the LeftWingWackos? No, and MSNBC will NEVER TELL YOU!
What if Al Gore had his hand in 2 pots at once, wouldn't the media have been outraged~?!?
3.- Our once safe and great public utility system is being sold out from underneath America.
Why not? It's what we did to the original owners of this continent, and now it's only fair that
we suffer the same fate (with unfair agreements, that the peole really don't understand the full ramifications of).
I mean, if local governments are either too poor or too cheap to
maintain the public utilities, maybe we can't handle the responsibility of our own water system.
But for a country SO OBSESSED WITH SECURITY, it sure seems fucked that we are selling
the water, power and so forth to FOREIGN INTERESTS! I'm not accusing those foreign interests
of anything- but just think about it. HOW TRUSTING ARE YOU? What if your water wasn't safe to drink
and you find out that you gotta complain to someone in GERMANY? Don't worry, this is coming to
your town soon- trust me.
So- while neocons drool over the few moments of Saddam, and the fucking days and days it will
take guys like Shepard Smith to recount how Saddam looked, how he talked, how he didn't make
much sense, what was he wearing- the country will continue it's tailspin.
Don't worry tho- we'll know all about every thing EXCEPT BUSH AND CO.
So to sum up this mad rant- just remember that on days like this- often times, things happen
that we'll only find out about by living long enough to look back at them. Somewhere, someone
is taking notice of the REAL NEWS, so it can be included in history.
Take for instance September 11, 2001, the day Henry Kissenger was indicted for war crimes.

..."He thought he was supporting the Iraqi people and the Bush administration by going over there, not with a gun but with his engineering tools," Michael Berg said.

Too bad in Rove's Amerika, you have to have a loved one killed to earn the right to be critical, and be heard by the media.
Maybe if president and media hadn't declared everyone not in love with this war a "Saddam lover",
some folks would still be alive today. Although according to some heartless Republicans I have spoke to personally, there haven't been that many killed, and those "are acceptable losses'- (my ass!)

OK- so we had to drive an hour to a major market to see Michael Moores Fahrenheit 9/11,
on its opening night. That's fine, we had a nice dinner too. The place was packed, and we were seated with the local royalty of liberal thinking- serious! We seemed to luck right into sitting with a large local contingent who had made the same hour drive. So of course, to different degrees, most of our friends already know most of what Michael had to say. What I was checking out were the gasps of the average hoosier who were probably forced to tag along due to a mate, friend or loved on who had to go.
Let me say this right now- Mike COULD HAVE BEEN HARDER ON THE PRESIDENT!
Sure, he pretty much made sport of the guy- but I think he kept most of his comments "fun" or "on the lighter side". Really. I mean, what's worse; Making you look foolish or funny; or making you seem to be a traitor wrapping himself in the flag? Point is, Mike really lets GW off the hook by mostly portraying him a guy who is "willing", but only "allowed to get away with it" by a willing media and generally hoodwinked public. Well duh!....
I wasn't surprised that Michael had some un-censored versions of white house "sanitized" military records relating to GW. I wonder- did ANY newsmedia organization have those un-censored versions? And were they afraid to air them for "fear of losing the place" in the white house press corp.? What I really really want to know is, are any other Americans making these connections and asking the same questions right now!!>?? I hope so...
There was one point in the footage of GW that he seemed to be a "golf bully", demanding credit "did I hear anyone say 'nice shot GW'?" for what was probably a shitty shot (what the fuck do I know about golf?) ; so for the rest of the movie, whenever the president was shown taking a swing, I exclaimed as loud as socially possible "nice shot GW!"- I just couldn't resist!
I really wanted to jump up and bring everyone together in a "Ferris Beuller" moment, but as soon as the idea crossed my evil mind, I had to realize that not everyone there was on the same page.
Some of these folks had never heard some of that stuff, I need to shut up and let folks listen... and that was a hell of a thing to realize.
If you generally read "bartcop.com" or "buzzflash.com" or "leftwingwackos.com", then this movie is not required viewing. You and I are already informed to a point. What you need to do is, take someone who "isn't interested". I'm reminded of some professional friends I have, who are arch-conservatives. I can just hear them say, "I'm just not interested in what that man has to say!". Problem is, they really should see it. They'd see the little-boy victim of war, getting his little head stiched up, crudely, screaming the whole time. Problem is, these arch-conservative friends are the "everything for the children" types, and while they'll give up their human rights, and therefore demand that WE ALL GIVE UP OUR RIGHTS, just to make their children "safer" from "terra", they're also the folks who DEMAND TO BE KEPT UNINFORMED AND IN THE DARK.
They care so much, that they "aren't interested" in critical opinions.
They care so much they try to shut down, and disallow dissenting, peacefully opinions.
They care so much they that searching law abiding citizens, with no regard to civil rights, will help make them safer.
Problem is, most folks don't run a political blog, being critical of the media on a semi-regular basis. Most folks get their news from Dan "I ran Cronkite out so I can be a shill" Rather, and when they REALLY REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE FACTS, they check out MSNBC or Fox News. (Ouch!)
Most people only choose from the facts presented to them between bites of cheeseburger or they want little "digestible news nuggets" that pass for critical thinking.
So I hope there were many, many non-political types, or straight up Republican recon types at Fahrenheit 9/11.
Maybe with a full-on, over-done, too far out to be believed and too frightening to be ignored movie like this one, someone, ANYONE else will hear this. Maybe it's the only way some can ever hear...

In a news climate that is soooooo desperate not to use vulgar words, like "Haliburton" and "Human Rights", the death of former president Reagan is like a blessing from heaven. For the record, I'm glad the poor guy isn't suffering anymore. I do have some compassion for him and his dreadful family, but, as a liberal- I don't generally hate anyone past the point of de-humanizing them;
my point is that we're all gonna die- and that simple thing is most likely the ONLY thing I'll ever have in common with the man. But it's enough.
So Chris "the screamer" Mathews on MSNBC this morning, while covering the massive funeral for Ronnie, dared to quietly explain the "some people" didn't like the guy because he was so suave and self-assured! Listen you asshole, you know better than that! The ONLY FUCKIN THING SOME OF US LIBERALS LIKED ABOUT THE MAN WAS THAT HE WAS SO PRESENTABLE LOOKING AS PRESIDENT!!
Never mind the facts that he was a liar (or was he, like his vice president "out of the loop?"), or that he preached a smaller government while growing it ever larger, or that he broke unions and screwed the once "safe" AIRLINE INDUSTRY.
No, Chris Mathews wants everyone to know it was because of his looks. That's why we hated him.
Once- when explaining to a friend why I disagreed with Reagan, I was accused of having a "personal problem" with the man. No, I explained, if you were on the "glory end" of Reagan- like if you were a minister, cop, politician, or right wing pundit- of course you'd love Reagan. He was like, everything you dreamed about; a person who validated your every desire and dream, and he made it look good. (It was OK to be white and powerfull during Reagan, in fact, why would you have wanted to be anything else?)
BUT- if you were on the end that got cut, slashed or totally eliminated from the Reagan budget, then your were called "small minded" or "a focus group". I called it getting fucked.
My father had worked all his life, with the belief that he'd have certain retirement benefits. When the time came to retire, Reagan decided that ANYONE getting more than a peasants wage from the government was a "DOUBLE DIPPER" and should be cut to subsistence level benefits.
NEVER MIND THAT THESE MEN AND WOMEN WORKED ALL THEIR LIVES AND PAID THOSE TAXES TO HAVE THOSE BENEFITS! The point is, social security is not a hand out. You pay for that shit. I pay for that shit. Then some actor/politician who probably NEVER worked a day in his miserable life dares to label these working men and women "the problem" and "we gotta cut this pork!".
That pork paid your wages Mr. Reagan. That pork raised good American kids who died in places like Vietnam. That pork was promised a certain amount of safety when they became old, and a lot of them believed you when you promised to look out for them. Instead, you cut their benefits.
But- due to the "free ride" that most media gave the old guy, Reagan got away with blaming the worker. And now- we're accused of not liking the man, because of his looks and charm.
Listen, only a knee-jerk neocon in-training would buy Reagans act anyway. But, it was a better act that Nixon, and for sure better that Ford. So, even back then, I understood that it was Reagans "image" people preferred to worship, not his deeds.
So jump ahead to Chris Mathews, still wanting to have it both ways. When we point out specific, credible evidence of why we don't care for Reagan- we're just being petty. When we point out that 99% percent of his appeal was visual and emotional, we hate him for his looks. No Chris, he was so much more bearable because of his looks. ANYWAY- we all know you neocons hated Clinton because of his looks, now see how ridiculous that sounds?

Oh-? whatdaya mean they refuse to talk about it? what about fair and balanced?

and how Bush will win in 04'-Gasp!
by The Grand Wazoo
It's been a tough week around here. Just when you think you got your opinions and decisions decided, you get a week like this one- and then you realize you don't know shit.
I think we're being led down the wrong path, not just by Bush and Co.- but by the scandal driven media as well. This is what happens when a Republic like ours gets obsessed with scandal, and a society looses it's ability to judge right and wrong.
The Quick Points.
1. Politicians are like gamblers, willing to participate in nearly anything to keep the wheel spinning. What they want is to perpetuate the system, since without it, their game is over.
2. Democrats and Republicans are largely the same. Thus, you really can't believe most of what they say, nor can you have any faith in their little "committees" or "panels" and their findings.
3. Folks like Oliver North have their stars launched by scandals like this one.
4. When the folks came home from Vietnam, their was a lot of hostility and such. Now, this scandal and it's results will unfortunately produce much of the same. And while it's a REPUBLICAN President, and a REPUBLICAN house and senate that sent those troops to war, and those same REPUBLICANs have called all the shots since the war started- I ask you- Who will be blamed for the anti-soldier sentiment created by this? The DEMOCRATS! That's who! So in the long run, this will work IN THE REPUBLICAN's favor!
The Arnold Strategy
Some of you older folks may be able to correct my accreditation of this strategy, it's probably older than time itself.
I was sent an email recently that chided me for not being more critical of some democrats, and reminding me that all the media could focus on during the California recall election, and how biased that was AGAINST soon-to-be-governor Arnold. That email allowed me crystallize what I call the Arnold strategy. This misguided emailer seemed pretty convinced that Arnold won the election DESPITE all the "bad press" of the "groping scandal". My assertion is, that while a "sex scandal" seems like a death sentence for a political campaign, it only seems to be a problem for DEMOCRATS, like Gary Condit. For the record, if Arnold was guilty, and anyone had credible case, he would ALREADY BE IN JAIL FOOLS!
Around my hometown, there was a local TV personality and radio DJ, who raped a babysitter last Christmas, and that perv is already serving his time. So I NEVER bought the Arnold as a "groper" thing. It was pure bullshit. If any of those women had proof or a case, Arnold would be in jail already.
But- It did prove to Rove and Co. that you can occupy the headlines with a scandal- ANY SCANDAL - BUT THIS IS REAL IMPORTANT---- IT'S GOTTA HAVE A "SEX PART TO IT!!".
And then by nature of the "all encompassing news coverage" you can shut out little things that used to be part of every political campaign- like: issues, answers, debate, accountability-- and you very, very effectively "SHUT OUT ALL OTHER NEWS!"
So while your opponent thinks he's gaining ground by attacking your little scandal, he's secretly playing a big part in your election.
Think of it this way- while you knew all about Arnold and his indiscretions, can you really say you know ANYTHING about ANYONE ELSE IN THE WHOLE CAMPAIGN? The answer of course is no.
The Arnold scandal "took up all the oxygen" and became the only issue in an already one dimensional race. Of course to top it off, just for the basic cable crowd, networks like USA played what seemed like EVERY Arnold movie for the weeks before the recall election. Nice touch, so when you switch channels to stop hearing about Arnold, you can watch a little "Raw Deal".
The Kerry Factor
So with Americas sick preoccupation with sex scandals and death, it is great apprehension that we should be looking at this "scandal". Be careful O liberals, before you dare to cheer.
While it may look like GW and Co will get what it's got coming because of this, but most likely it will only win the election for him. What after all can poor John Kerry say:?
On one hand, if he says it's ok with him, he's a sick fuck.
On the other, if he condemns the actions, he's a "soldier hater" and a "traitor". Or someone would have the balls to ask him a follow-up question like, "So, Mr. Kerry, would you have preferred leaving Sadaam in power??"!!!
So don't expect Kerry to chime in anytime soon, if he know's what's good for him.
The Blame Game
We can only blame this on either GW Bush, or OURSELVES!
If we as a country and a "culture" hadn't proven that you can sell us anything with a scandal, and we prefer a sex-scandal if possible, this entire mess and all the dead Americans just wouldn't be possible. While Bush put those men in a war that will last forever, and accepts only the glory and not the responsibility for the crimes, we have ourselves to blame for believing in the fairy tale that solders "make up their own orders" and that the president is not accountable for a single mistake. Hell, even he can't think of anything he's ever done wrong!
We can only vote and speak out. Oh- and if any Americans took politics, voting, government, law, and such as seriously as they take "American Idol" or "Survivor" we'd all be in better shape.

I was checking out our little yahoo forum the other day.
I admit that I don't really promote my site enough, and I don't get posts every day.
But- while in a shadow dimension, I noticed a new post.
"Sean" was pretty down on my Al Sharpton rant, and in response, I suppose I was too busy bashing the guy to see one of his points- that is: I'm not really that left wing.
Sorry to all those text-book liberals out there, and sorry to all those neocons who depend on a few stock answers, based on extreme liberal theory, to debunk all liberal thought.
Yes, Sean, I am almost mainstream, compared to Michael Parenti. Yes, I'm aware of Parenti and others, and like Sean pointed out- the arguements of guys like Parenti are compelling, and they can move the extremes, but they are so extreme that you can't really take them at face value.
I mean, is Parenti a liberal? or is he simply a capitalist hater? or is he really selling socialism as the answer? See, I rarely declare anyone in posession of the complete answer. So while Parenti has neat ideas, and can polarize people, he is an extremist in my view- and exremists on either side are a needed evil. So while I'l always check out the extremes in theory, I look for the pragmatic and practical in practice.
So why pick a name like "LeftWingWackos.Com" and not present the most extreme liberal views possible? Well, it's really a little joke of my own, but I just didn't want some neocon to grab the domain name and use it as a "hate site" with photos of guys like Frank Zappa displayed as whats wrong with America. I want photos of guys like Frank Zappa displayed as whats right with America. Besides, I live in an arch-conservative area, and around here I am an extreme liberal.
What is mainstream? I'm still trying to figure that out.
I won't pretend to know it all. I am simply the son of a coal miner. I am just one liberal. I want to know what everyone thinks, even though I don't think everyone can be right. I don't have the wealth of my middle class parents to fund me, so I can only post rants when I don't have to work. I'm not a parody of liberalism. I like seeing protests, but I prefer to see voters.
Gotta go for now, Sean, my soft white belly needs feeding, so I have to get to work!~

I used to like Jack Cafferty. He plays the "old guy who won the war, (that's WWII, the big one) " on the CNN morning show. I appreciate the fact that these guys did indeed win, and saved our world.
(Of course, they also moved back home and proceeded to back every corrupt republican president we've had since then, but that's another gripe.)
So- this morning when Jacko called some arab leader something like "..this little worm", I was striken with how little respect he seems to have for the guy. I think this is a real problem in America- we refuse to give our enemy any respect. I don't mean you have to like the guy. In martial arts, they train you to "respect" your enemy. Go ahead and knock 'em down and waste him, but if you don't respect your enemy, you'll likely be the one getting wasted. It's not my principle, but it works well here as an example.
So back to Jacko Cafferty. May I remind you Jacko, that you and your type SCREAMED at the top of your lungs that "all we gotta do is get Saddam, then they'll all love being invaded by us!". Don't try to deny it Jacko. You know you did. Now, SEVERAL FLIP FLOPS LATER in position, Jacks opinion is simply an immature, " ...this little worm should come out and fight" and when questioned about what will happen next, he simply said " I dunno, let's find out". I DUNNO, LET's FIND OUT???
Thank fucking GOD that FDR didn't send you into Europe to fight with "I DUNNO, LET'S FIND OUT" as a plan. Is that the kind of plan you have for our troops -" I DUNNO KNOW, LET'S FIND OUT!!"??
Listen Jacko, don't de-humanize ANYONE. It makes you look and sound like a child.
Also, maybe you could remember that
1) All we have to do is get Saddam, then everything will fall in line. Now that we've got him what's your excuse? well, I'm waiting...
2) You and your type love to call democrats, FLIP FLOPPERS, when we change our mind. What do we call it when republicans do it? I mean, Saddam is gone, and these people still don't welcome us. What's your answer NOW?
3) We seem to have given the Iraqis the same freedoms we have. We shut down their media for expressing view we find displeasing. We are completely free to agree with the men with guns or be de-humanized!
Never forget Jacko, you might have won the war, but you still can't call occupation freedom. I hate seeing people like you, that I should respect, continue to let me down. Don't be a little worm.
